Thank you to our Year 6 helpers for leading us through the Remembrance Day Assembly. We joined in a minute silence after sharing our wreaths and poppies.
Year 1 had the best day preparing our Toy Museum. We chose our favourite toys, made our own worker lanyards and organised our toys from oldest to newest. We even got to have a try on a DS and a GameBoy!
We then cut the red ribbon and welcomed our family and friends to look at all our hard work. We gave out tickets, served snacks and showcased our very own handmade toys.
It was lovely to hear families share stories of their favourite toys and discuss all the memories from their own childhoods. Wonderful memories were made!
Thank you to everyone who came.
As part of our work looking at the vanishing village, today Year 3 visited Beamish to look at the mining colliery. This morning, we had a workshop called “Just One Spark” where we investigated mining explosions and what made the mines safer. Then, after lunch, we explored the village and even had a ride on the tram before returning home
.
It was a brilliant day and the children had a great time.
In history this term Year 1 are looking at how toys have changed over time. We have had a lovely delivery of old toys from Sunderland Winter Gardens. We explored the toys and decided our favorites was a marble run and a wooden acrobat!
We’ve had a brilliant day learning all about Ancient Greece at the Great North Museum.
We played a very special game of ‘I Spy’, solved the puzzle to create a timeline and we got to explore the museum too. It was a brilliant day but we’re definitely ready for a lie down now!
Have you visited the museum before?
In Year 3 our History Topic is The Vanishing Village. We have been finding out about Old Marsden Village which was once built upon the cliffs. Yesterday we put our detective hats on and walked along to see if we could see any remains of what was once there.
