Today, we walked down to Whitburn Church to celebrate our Harvest Festival. There was some fantastic singing from all our Choir and the rest of the school.
Thank you for all the kind donations which will be taken to Hospitality and Hope.
Year 1 enjoyed talking about changes we see during Autumn. They were super excited with the leaves they had found on our school field at playtime so we decided to go outside and use them to print with. We enjoyed exploring the different textures and finding ways to make different prints.
This week, EYFS discovered the importance of working as a team. We designed some scarecrows as part of our Magic Monday session and then through the week we jumped into action to make a real scarecrow.
Keep your eyes peeled for the end result which will be displayed alongside the other scarecrows created by the other classes.
In Year Four, we are learning about ‘Networks’ as part of our Computing curriculum.
We already knew lots of information about the internet so we shared our ideas and then worked in teams to create our own networks. Then, we had to send special messages using different networks but we quickly realised that sometimes messages cannot be sent. To solve the problem, we discussed how we can use a router to redirect or share information.
We also used the ‘World Wide Web’ to carry out our own searches and enjoyed finding information on our school website and our favourite story characters.
Yesterday South Shields Tennis Club visited Year 2, 3, and 4. The children had a brilliant time taking part in a Tennis Workshop. Everybody loved the games and enjoyed trying something new. They will be offering an after school club starting after half term which the children can’t wait to start.
EYFS had a lovely visit from the hand washing and oral hygiene nurses. They showed us how to correctly brush our teeth and wash our hands to protect us from invisible germs. It was a lovely afternoon and we have all been singing our hand washing song when washing our hands.
On Tuesday, our girls’ football team represented Marsden at the South Tyneside Girls’ Football FA cup. It was a mixed competition for us as we won some games, drew some and lost some! We finished 4th in our group which is a terrific achievement. The girls had a fantastic time and represented our school brilliantly. It was a great experience as we prepare for our league fixtures to start. Well done girls!
In Year 6, we have been learning about how the internet works and as part of this we worked on a mini project about the UK on Padlet. Using this software on the IPads, we were all able to upload answers to questions and share research findings with everyone in the class through a virtual bulletin board. It was great fun!
