Year 6 had an amazing end to their residential week by visiting Simonside Outdoor Adventure Centre. We tried Archery, Orienteering and Indoor Climbing. Everybody tried all of the activities and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
Yesterday, we celebrated Safer Internet Day at Marsden.
Each year group watched a discussion story suitable for their age range which raised points such as being kind online, limiting screen time and not sharing personal information online.
EYFS loved our story called Dot which looked at how we need to play outside with our friends instead of just watching an iPad inside.
Year 4 wrote persuasive letters to the named character of their story, Tek, to not use his devices as much. They would definitely persuade me!
Year 5 enjoyed completing crossword puzzles with clues to important vocabulary relating to staying safe online.
Many happy returns to Mrs Lawson who was introduced to our special birthday assembly!
Today, Marsden celebrated “Safer Internet Day” by discussing how important it is to stay safe while using various devices.
The Word are holding a special “Online Safety for Parents” zoom chat on Wednesday 9th or Thursday 10th February at 4:30pm to support families with restrictions and various apps which your children may be using.
If you would like to attend one of these sessions, please email [email protected] for the link.
Below is some helpful information.
As part of our Lunar New Year celebrations, Reception helped to prepare and cook a delicious stir-fry!
The best part was definitely eating it!
This week, EYFS have started to look at the celebration of “Lunar New Year” which is often referred to as “Chinese New Year”.
The Nursery children were fascinated by the dancing dragons in the clips we watched of how Lunar New Year is celebrated. We made our own dragons using loose parts in our maths session focusing on describing the shapes. We talked about their long bodies, round heads, pointy teeth and spiky horns.
Let us know if you like our dragons 🐉
Congratulations to our winners!
Year 3 had an incredible Stone Age Day.
They rocked up to school looking fabulous in their Stone Age attire.
The classroom was transformed into a dark cave with its own fire. Children had the opportunity to try a range of Stone Age activities from making Stone Age Stew to crafting their own jewellery and tools. They even had the chance to step into the shoes of an archaeologist by handling Stone Age artefacts from The Discovery Museum in Newcastle. How exciting!
