In DT, Y4 children each made a slingshot car. They built the chassis and launch mechanism using lolly sticks, hot glue and tape. They designed their own car bodies and constructed and assembled them independently. They the. Had fun testing the cars and racing them against each other.
Before we broke up for half term, EYFS celebrated Pancake Day together. We made the batter, cooked them and the chose our favourite toppings. Then we were finally able to gobble them up!
EYFS always enjoy making others smile! So to celebrate Valentine’s Day we created our own Heart Sun Catchers and Handprint Bouquets for each class!

To prepare for our upcoming trip to London and visit to the Houses of Parliament, the MP for South Shields, Emma Lewell-Buck, came to answer our questions about life as a Member of Parliament. The children asked some great questions and found out lots about the government as what it is like to be a part of it. I think we might have some future politicians here at Marsden!
This afternoon, our Autumn Term house point winners – Red House – enjoyed their special treat in the hall. The children decided they wanted to watch a movie with some snacks. They all had great fun watching Sing! Who will be the Spring term winners and choose a treat next time……
Year 1 have had a lovely day celebrating Valentine’s Day. We have made lots of lovely things to take home and even decorated our own valentines cookie.
Today Year 3 Had a brilliant Stone Age Day. The children all looked fantastic and we had lots of fun. We started our day by crawling through a cave and sitting around a campfire in the classroom.
We then became archaeologists and found some fantastic fossils hidden in the soil. Next we created charcoal cave drawings under the desks as if we were lying in our very own cave.
This afternoon we made Stone Age biscuits and fruit stew and can’t wait to try them!
Finally we hunted for food, some of us even caught a rabbit!
The Girls’ Football CVL competition was back up and running this week. Our girls performed brilliantly securing 2 wins and 2 draws over the course of the morning. Everyone was so excited to restart the season but it was extra special because we had our new kits to show off. How smart does everyone look? Well done girls for once again representing our school so well.
