Congratulations to our winners!
At the end of last half term, Mrs Potter was blown away by the children’s writing in Y2 so she desperately wanted the children in Y6 to enjoy it too! The older children were very impressed by Y2’s creative writing and were thoroughly entertained – just what a great story should do.
Y6 had enjoyed the opportunity to free write in English this week and produced stories with a moral for their special friends in reception. It was good to have a real purpose for writing and the Y6 children took real pride in producing some lovely tales for their younger friends.
A huge thank you to everyone for their support and donations to help the fantastic charity CHUF. Although red is our school colour it was lovely to see everyone in their own red items!
Everyone at Marsden would like to wish Janice from the Kitchen a very happy 50th birthday!
In Year 3 our maths topic has been length and perimeter. This week we have been focusing on perimeter, which needs all of our previous knowledge on measuring so we can work out the total length of the edges of a 2D shape. We have been outside measuring the perimeter of the yard and have been allowed to draw 2D shapes on our tables and find their perimeters.
Year Four had great fun this afternoon, investigating how sounds travel. We made string telephones and explored how the material of the cup and the length of the string affected the quality of the sound. We also found out what happens when the strings from two sets of telephones crossed!
This half term, Y6 have been thoroughly enjoying the novel ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. The children have started to connect the story together which has left them begging to read just one more chapter before lunch! Recently, they have produced some amazing narrative writing based on the story and the discovery of something unexpected at the bottom of a hole…

In Year 2 we celebrated Valentine’s Day by creating our own Valentines Day cards out of our sketching artwork. They turned out beautiful and I am sure our special people will love them.
We also all enjoyed special valentines day treats for our lunch! They were delicious so we wanted to say thank you to Janice and her team.
