Stone Age Day

Today Year 3 Had a brilliant Stone Age Day. The children all looked fantastic and we had lots of fun. We started our day by crawling through a cave and sitting around a campfire in the classroom.

We then became archaeologists and found some fantastic fossils hidden in the soil. Next we created charcoal cave drawings under the desks as if we were lying in our very own cave.

This afternoon we made Stone Age biscuits and fruit stew and can’t wait to try them!

Finally we hunted for food, some of us even caught a rabbit!

The Girls’ Football CVL competition was back up and running this week. Our girls performed brilliantly securing 2 wins and 2 draws over the course of the morning. Everyone was so excited to restart the season but it was extra special because we had our new kits to show off. How smart does everyone look? Well done girls for once again representing our school so well.

North East Choir of the Year

Today, our Choir, along with 9 other primary schools in the North East, competed for the Choir of the Year.

We sang beautifully and were awarded Highly Commended

How far can you throw?

Today Year 3 investigated how far they could throw and collected their results. The children were excellent at measuring and collected their results accurately.

Year Five Survival Adventure

Today, Year Five had the most amazing day with Team Challenge Adventures, learning how to work as a team and survive whilst climbing “Mount Everest.” First on the agenda was putting up their own tents independently, then they competed in a variety of team building tasks including knot tying, bridge building and races. The overall winning team were “ The Fuji Warriors” but every single child was a shining ambassador for Marsden – encouraging one another, persevering and showing support and empathy towards their team mates. They should sleep tonight… I know the adults will!

Y3 Safer Internet day!

Today Year 3 have taken part in Safer Internet Day. The children watched Webster’s Friend: https://youtu.be/WixQdofGds8

A lovely story about 2 spiders who are chatting online. We discussed the importance of being yourself and not telling lies and over exaggerating. The children also looked at why it is important to not share personal information online.

They created some beautiful posters which we will put up in our classroom

Year 6 Science

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory system and this week we made ‘blood’ so we could see its different components! We use some water, some mini marshmallows, two different cereals and some food colouring. A plastic bottle was our blood vessel.

It was very interesting but messy!
