EYFS wanted to say goodbye to Year 6 and thank them for the amazing job they carried as buddies.
We made them a good luck card and some ready confetti to calm nerves before their first day at secondary school.
They couldn’t resist one last roll down the hill! 🙂
We will miss you Year 6!
Y4 finished off their half term at Beach School with a real treat! They enjoyed delicious s’mores which were roasted by the children on the beach fire. The session started with some shelter building just incase the dark clouds resulted in a downpour but we managed to escape the showers. The children enjoyed making some amazing sand sculptures in the sand – check out their fantastic creations.
Y4 enjoyed a visit from the Nissan STEM team. During the morning event, the children were able to build their own cars and explore Japanese culture. The children also set up their own car building production line and used their problem solving skills to improve its efficiency. Great work Y4!
For our DT topic this half term, Year Five have been exploring how to modify recipes and adapt them to our own tastes. We started with a basic bolognese recipe and looked at the aspects we could change or improve.
In our last lesson, we worked in groups to make the final changes and then, today, worked hard to create our versions bolognese! We made four variations: a traditional beef mince bolognese, an extra veg bolognese, one using turkey mince and courgettes and one using plant-based protein. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking and sampling everything but the recipe with the most votes was the healthy turkey mince recipe!
To celebrate the opening of the new coastal path in September, Creative Seed have worked with all our children to rehearse an amazing carnival dance.
The children have been encouraged to attend the parade and join in the dances – once we know more specific information we will be sure to let you know!
What an exciting afternoon Y4 had! We enjoyed our first taste of orienteering in South Marine Park. We put our map reading skills to the test as we followed the course looking for the markers. On route, we were challenged to complete some problem solving activities which involved lots of team work. We managed to avoid the rain and had a fantastic time. It was a big hit!
Our 4th visit to beach school saw us visit a new location – The Wherry. Here, we looked at where high tide and low tide reached before exploring the splash zone, mid zone and shore line. On our walk to The Wherry, we saw lots of the coastal features we have been learning about including an arch, stack, stump, bay and headland. We learned about the importance of avoiding entering caves and standing too close to rocky overhangs. Before heading back to school, we had a quick look at the pools of water left on the bedrock to see if we could find anything interesting!
It’s that time of year when we gather together to share our achievements throughout the year. Nursery and Year 5 were first up to share files and books with parents. We are all very proud of the progress the children have made this year 😊
This week we explored the rock pools!
After all of that hard work putting our previous Y3 learning about rocks into good practise, we had lots of fun skimming the stones we had found!
