Today, Year Five became Ancient Egyptian embalmers!  To support our work in History and English, we followed a set of instructions to mummify a tomato!  First, we looked carefully at our tomatoes and thought of adjectives to describe them.  We also weighed them on a set of scales.  Next, we made a small incision in the side of the tomato and used a small spoon to scoop out the insides.  After that, we washed our fruits and packed them with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and table salt before covering them in a final layer of salt.  We will wait forty days before checking to see what changes have happened to our tomatoes.  What do you think they will look like when they are uncovered?
